Herbalist Sarah Slater will explore the Medicine of Bee Balm (Monarda
fistulosa), a beautiful and fragrant wildflower that can be found in
the surrounding mountains. Its pinkish-lavender blooms look like
fireworks, which reminds us to look for it around the 4th of July. We
owe our knowledge of this plant to the Native American tribes who have
been using this medicine for generations. Known as a fever and
respiratory herb, Bee Balm is an important medicine to gather in
preparation for the seasons changing later in the year. Together we
will sample tea, tincture and infused honey.
